Biodiesel Storage and Cold Weather Handling - 10/24/06
Biodiesel Storage:
Biodiesel is non-toxic and can be safely stored in a shop or garage at
home. Biodiesel has a shelf life between 4-6 months and should be
stored in a dark, cool, and dry environment. Be aware that when
storing B99 outside and temperatures drop below freezing biodiesel will
gel.
Cold weather and biodiesel:
Biodiesel will gel at temperatures below freezing. We recommend
filling up with at least 20% (1/4 tank) of No.2 diesel when temperatures stay
below freezing. Please attempt to fill your car with petro-diesel prior
to adding biodiesel in order to receive a more accurate blend.
