Ferndale School District Running on B99 - 08/31/06
The Ferndale School District in Ferndale, Washington has recently concluded their summer biodiesel pilot project. Ferndale's Director of Transportation, Darrell Clute, began fueling a 1999 Thomas Built Bus/Cat 3116 engine with B99 (a 99% blend of biodiesel) in June of 2006. The bus successfully operated during summer school 2006, while reducing emissions, and will continue to operate during the 2006-2007 school year on B99 until the colder months approach. Darrell anticipates moving fleet wide in September 2006 using B20 and also plans on adding an additional two buses on a B99 blend.
